Ask foreigners who have visited Indonesia or other Southeast Asian country, what is one good thing about Southeast Asian countries? Most of them will answer in unison: ’the people are friendly’. I spent most of my live in Indonesia, and probably as most of Indonesian we take it for granted that our people are friendly, much friendlier than our neighbour in the north. We’re used to take a ‘thank you’ accompanied by warm smile as a complimentary part of service even in a humble Warteg. Only on the eyes of foreigners I notice that it’s actually a luxury in other countries. I’ve heard some pretty bad recount of rude service of waiter or waitress in China. A friend from China once told me a story of rude service by MRT ticket-seller. Here goes the story:
The Millenials, Are We The Trapped Generation?
Marketing experts like to coin new terms for their convenient of segmenting market demographics. Thus, the terms like Generation X, Generation Y, and the Millennials are created. The exact definition of each generation are vague, but let’s just use the following definition from Wikipedia for the convenient of understanding the point in this article:
- The baby boomers are the generation that was born following World War II, generally from 1943–1960
- Generation X, commonly abbreviated to Gen X, is the generation following the baby boomers. Demographers and researchers typically use starting birth years ranging from the early-to-mid 1960s and ending birth years ranging from the late 1970s to early 1980s.
- Millennials, also known as the Millennial Generation or Generation Y, are the demographic cohort following Generation X. Demographers and researchers typically use the early to mid-1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years.

The Divine Comedy
Have you ever noticed some random insane, mentally-ill people literally LOL-ing on the corner of the street? I want to postulate this random theory. First and foremost, they're not laughing for no reason at all.
I think they have just lost a game, a comedic one with life. They've underestimated how funny life, or - if you prefer - God can be. I'm not sure whether God does exist or not, but one thing to be sure if he does. I'm not sure if he is omniscience, omnipotent, omni-whatever but I'm sure he's a great comedian. Those crazy people, they might have underestimated God's sense of humor. It's more cruel, noir, and unexpected that you could've ever imagined. He's a great mastermind behind world's sickest jokes.

Branding, The Powerful Tool Against Stereotypes
Since the dawn of civilizations, humans have the nature or I prefer to call it the ‘hobby’ of categorizing things. Humans categorize time, creating January, February, 1900, Before Century, A.D., we categorize stars and creating constellations, solar system and of course we categorize living things on earth. Aristotle, one of the greatest Greek philosophers is famous of his keen interest in animal classification. At his time, it was very simple, 4-legged animals, 2-legged animal, bird, fish and so on. Fast forward to the modern time, the name Carolus Liannaus surfaced, continuing Aristotle’s legacy of animals and other living things classification. He later introduced the ‘binominal nomenclature’, a systematic and much more detailed system of living things classification. He then known as the Father of Taxonomy.
